COVID-19 Prevention

On the 21st August 2020, our team visited one of our partner schools, Surulere Girls Secondary School in Lagos, to distribute facemasks and handwashing soap to a hundred and twelve (112) girls writing the WAEC examinations.
We realised we needed to address this critical need to keep the girls safe and take one item off their bucket list to concentrate on their exams fully. During the visit, we had a small talk with the principal, and she discussed the activities being put in place ahead of the resumption of the regular students. All stakeholders have started working actively towards transitioning online as that is where the future lies.
The Lagos state government has commenced the distribution of devices to students to enable them to resume learning online and familiarise teachers and students alike with the process.
At The IQRA Foundation, we are tirelessly working towards providing improved learning conditions for children in low-income communities in West Africa. During this pandemic, that also involves giving relief materials that will protect them from the Coronavirus while learning

Bariga Community Mentoring

Our Community mentoring program kicked off in Bariga, Lagos in July with a visit to the children in the community. The program will run for two years and ensure that children adopted into the program learn core commercial and social skills that will encourage self-reliance and becoming better citizens.
The mentoring team will conduct monthly visits to the children for proper monitoring, familiarization, and to provide psychological support. Children will also have the opportunity to benefit from the Access to Books scholars program where they will access scholarships that aid their learning through secondary school.
